Do I need a driver CPC?

Delegates with grandfather rights on their licences (held their DL since before 1997) have the option to take the CPC tests one time only.

After this the delegate must undertake the 35 hours for the next 5 years.

If you wish to undertake the tests, they are as follows;

Part 2 - Case studies; the test is made up of 7 case studies you work through on a computer. The case studies are short stories based on situations that you’re likely to come across in your working life. You’ll be asked between 6 and 8 multiple-choice questions on each case study.

Part 4 - Practical Demonstration (Show me / Tell me). You’re tested on being able to:

• load the vehicle following safety rules and to keep it secure

• stop trafficking in illegal immigrants

• assess emergency situations

• reduce physical risks to yourself or others

• do a walkaround vehicle safety check

The test is made up of 5 topics from the Driver CPC syllabus. You will need an appropriate test standard vehicle for this module.

We can help with training/studying for this should you wish.

Costs; paid to DVLA on registering to take the test.
